Intel’s upcoming Lunar Lake “Core Ultra 200V” CPU has been spotted in the HP Specter x360 notebook, with powerful Battlemage Arc iGPU performance.
HP Equips Next-Gen Specter X360 2-in-1 Notebook with Intel’s Lunar Lake “Core Ultra 200V” CPU, Reduced Arc Battlemage iGPU Shows Great Performance
Intel will introduce its Lunar Lake processors in the Core Ultra 200V family later this year. The new family will target thin and light laptops and a new variant appears to have been spotted in the form of the HP Specter x360 2-in-1 which sports a Lunar Lake-M SKU with LPDDR5 memory. It comes with 32 GB of memory in the package, and the chip has a TDP of 17 W.
Although the specifications of the Intel Lunar Lake “Core Ultra 200V” CPU have not been properly released, we can see another preview of the Arc Battlemage “Xe2-LPG” iGPU, which brings a big performance improvement over its Arc Alchemist “Xe-LPG” iGPU predecessors. The iGPU has 56 execution units, so it can be concluded that this is a slightly reduced variant with 7 Xe cores compared to the variant with 8 Xe cores that we saw before. The iGPU has a clock speed of up to 1.85 GHz and comes with 8 MB of L2 cache.
In terms of performance analysis, the Intel Arc Battlemage “Xe2-LPG” iGPU on the Lunar Lake “Core Ultra 200V” CPU provides a massive 2x performance boost despite being a scaled-down variant. The Intel Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake iGPUs score around 1000 points in the SiSoftware Sandra GPGPU tests, while the Lunar Lake ES chip scores over 2100 points. That’s a huge gain within a generation, and if it translates to discrete GPUs, we’re sure to see some big improvements.
Following are some of the features of Lunar Lake CPU:
- Designed for thin and light laptops
- Lion Cove P-cores and Skymont LPE-cores
- Battlemage “Xe2-LPG” GPU architecture
- Up to 8 Xe2 GPU cores
- 4+4 core configurations (MX-series)
- Up to 64 execution units
- 32 GB of LPDDR5x memory in the package
- Up to 3x faster NPU performance compared to Meteor Lake
- 17-30W TDP
- Launch late 2024, volume 2025
Previously, the Intel Lunar Lake “Core Ultra 200V” CPU was revealed in the Galaxy Book5 Ultra leak which means OEMs already have access to early samples of the chip and that’s good news as we can expect these chips to hit the shelves, in time! According to previous leaks, Intel Lunar Lake CPUs will have 8 cores in 4 P-Core (Lion Cove) and 4 LP-E core (Crestmont) configurations with Battlemage “Arc Xe2-LPG” iGPUs in up to 8 Xe- Core configurations, combined with 32 GB of LPDDR5x memory in the package and TDPs in the 17-30 W range. Once again, the launch is expected later this year, with wider availability planned for the first half of 2025.
